Types of group-based recreation support

Support for our supported recreational activities is divided up into three types of groups.

LOW SUPPORT

Group based recreation and skill development - RATIO 1:3 (staff to people supported)

There is a maximum of 6 people per activity. This support is most appropriate to people who:

  • Require minimal support with their daily living skills
  • Socialise with other people readily
  • Enjoy new environments

MEDIUM SUPPORT

Group based recreation and skill development, higher staff ratio - RATIO 1:2 (staff to people supported) There is a maximum of 4 people per activity. This support is most appropriate to people who:

  • Require moderate support with their daily living skills
  • Require behaviour, medical and social support
  • Find new environments challenging

HIGH SUPPORT

Group based recreation and skill building higher intensity – RATIO 1:1 (staff to people supported) There is a maximum of 2 people per activity. This support is most appropriate to people who:

  • Require a high level of support with their daily living skills
  • Require significant behaviour, medical and social support
  • Require significant assistance due to low awareness of their own safety
  • Have physical support requirements that require 1:1 staff support

Skill development

Learning new skills is always exciting and when you are attending an Impact Recreation Activity you are free to nominate your choice of skills to focus on while away. It’s your choice so if you have a particular skill you would like to learn please let one of our Impact staff know when you are discussing your fantastic experience.

Individual assessment and support needs

All new people who decide to come and join in one of our fantastic supported community, social and recreational activities will meet with an Impact Staff member. The meeting will cover the support requirements of the person, any preferences or questions they may have and determine which support level would be most suitable for them. The assessment will also offer support options, staff member matching and discuss your chosen skills.
